FAQs

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments needed varies per client and tattoo. Denton Laser Tattoo Removal assesses various factors to determine the number of treatments you will need to reach your desired goal. On average, most patients need 5 to 10 treatments for complete tattoo removal. Clients interested in lightening a tattoo for a cover-up usually require around 3 to 4 treatments or less depending on how faded the tattoo is. A few factors that we use to evaluate how many treatments you will need are:

  • Tattoo age

  • Tattoo location

  • Tattoo colors

  • Skin type

  • Depth of ink

  • Ink density

  • Pre-existing scarring

  • Individual's health

How long does it take to see laser tattoo removal results?

The rate at which your tattoo fades relies primarily upon your immune system. That said, a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks is required between laser sessions to give your skin time to heal. This healing period may be reduced to 4 weeks, depending on how fast your skin heals after each treatment. Since the healing rate relies solely on your body, clients with a healthy immune system will likely experience more rapid fading. Exercise, drinking lots of water, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle can improve results.

How long are laser tattoo removal treatments?

Unlike tattoo application, laser tattoo removal treatments are extremely fast. Depending on the size of the tattoo being removed, treatments last as little as 1 to 15 minutes.

Is laser tattoo removal safe?

Laser tattoo removal is the safest method for removing unwanted ink from the skin. This non-invasive method uses advanced laser technology to penetrate the skin and target unwanted ink without damaging any surrounding skin tissue.  Denton Laser Tattoo Removal uses FDA-approved laser technology to ensure the safest application and best results for all skin types.

Are there side effects to laser tattoo removal?

The most common side effects are redness, swelling, itchiness, hyperpigmentation, hypopigmentation, scabbing, and blistering. These side effects are temporary and heal during the 6 to 8 week waiting period between treatments. As long as proper aftercare is applied, your tattoo should fade flawlessly without any severe side effects.

Does laser tattoo removal hurt?

Overall, the laser is tolerable and often compared to a rubber band snapping against the skin. Clients with a lower pain tolerance have said the laser feels similar to getting a tattoo applied but is easier to endure due to the short treatment time.  Denton Laser Tattoo Removal provides skin numbing solutions to maximize patient comfort and reduce pain.

Can you fade my tattoo for a cover-up or remove a specific element?

Yes! We use laser tattoo removal to perfect our cover-up artwork and give you the exact tattoo you've been dreaming of. Laser tattoo removal helps fade a tattoo to create a cleaner canvas for our tattoo artists to work on. By fading the original artwork, our talented tattoo artists can provide more size, color, and design options to deliver a tattoo you're proud to wear while completely concealing the existing unwanted tattoo.

In addition to fading for cover-ups and complete tattoo removal, our Denton tattoo studio also provides selective tattoo removal. This option is great for clients who want to remove a specific part of their tattoo, such as a name or design element, leaving the surrounding ink untouched.
